Overview
What this document covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Verity Labs ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use PARALLAX — our educational AI platform available at px-4qj.pages.dev and via Android.

By creating an account or using PARALLAX, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the service and delete your account.

PARALLAX is designed for students and educators. We collect only what is necessary to run the service, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
01
Information we collect

We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information generated automatically when you use the service.

Data type What it is Why we collect it
Email address Provided at sign-up Account creation, sign-in, and support communication
Password Provided at sign-up (email accounts only) Stored as a secure hash by Supabase — we never see your plain password
Usage data Number of questions asked per session, timestamps, question count within rolling windows Enforcing fair-use rate limits (6 free / 40 pro questions per 3-hour window)
Question content The text of questions you submit Sent to our AI provider to generate answers; not stored permanently on our servers
Subscription status Whether your account is on the free or Pro tier Determining which features and limits apply to your account
Payment reference A transaction reference ID from Paystack Verifying that a payment was successful and upgrading your account
Local history & progress Past questions, flashcard ratings, streak and mastery scores Stored locally in your browser/device and optionally synced to your account for continuity

We do not collect your name, physical address, date of birth, phone number, or any financial card details. Payment card data is handled entirely by Paystack and never touches our systems.

02
How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes only:

To operate the service. Your email and session token allow you to sign in and use PARALLAX. Your usage count is checked against rate limits on each request.

To process payments. When you subscribe to PARALLAX Pro, your email and a Paystack transaction reference are used to verify your payment and upgrade your account in our database.

To improve reliability. Anonymised error signals help us detect and fix technical problems. We do not use your question content to train AI models.

To communicate with you. We may email you to confirm your account, respond to a support request, or notify you of important changes to the service.

We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. PARALLAX contains no advertising and is funded entirely by subscriptions.
03
Third-party services

PARALLAX relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy.

Service Purpose Data shared
Supabase Authentication and database (stores your account and subscription status) Email address, hashed password, subscription status, usage events
OpenRouter Routes requests to AI language models that generate answers Your question text and conversation context (not linked to your account)
Paystack Processes subscription payments securely Email address, payment amount; card details handled by Paystack only
Cloudflare Hosts the PARALLAX web app and backend worker Standard web request metadata (IP address, user-agent) per Cloudflare's policy
Google (OAuth) Optional "Continue with Google" sign-in Name and email from your Google account, if you choose this option
04
Data storage and security

Your account data is stored in Supabase, which operates infrastructure in the European Union (AWS eu-west-1). Usage rate-limit counters are stored in Cloudflare KV, which operates globally. Both services encrypt data at rest and in transit.

Your local history, flashcard ratings, and progress data are stored on your own device using browser localStorage. This data does not leave your device unless you are signed in, in which case progress events are synced to your Supabase account.

We use HTTPS for all data in transit. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes by Supabase — we never see your plaintext password. We do not store full payment card details at any point.

No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at samnkrumah6@gmail.com.

05
Data retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. Usage rate-limit counters expire automatically after 24 hours. Local device data persists until you clear your browser data or uninstall the app.

If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (for example, records of completed payment transactions may be kept for up to 7 years under applicable financial regulations).

06
Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data, in accordance with the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and applicable international privacy principles:

Access. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Correction. You may request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.

Deletion. You may request that we delete your account and associated personal data.

Portability. You may request your data in a portable format where technically feasible.

Objection. You may object to certain uses of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at samnkrumah6@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

07
Children's privacy

PARALLAX is designed for secondary school, university, and professional students. The service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

Users aged 13–17 should have parental or guardian consent before creating an account.

08
Cookies and local storage

PARALLAX uses browser localStorage (not cookies) to store your question history, settings, and progress data on your device. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you are signed in.

Supabase sets a session token in your browser to keep you signed in across sessions. This is a functional necessity, not a tracking cookie. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.

09
Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.

Continued use of PARALLAX after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with a change, you may delete your account before the change takes effect.
